WARDOGS Error Code L014 Fix — Leftover Anti-Cheat Files

Published 2026-09-15Updated 2026-09-193 min read

WARDOGS error L014 usually means old playtest Elytra files clash with the live build: delete the folder, verify, re-run setup — then check other anti-cheats.

The most frequent code in Early Access — and the most fixable.

Error L014 is one of the most common WARDOGS errors, and its cause is usually sitting in your game folder: old Elytra anti-cheat files from the playtest clashing with the live build.

Fix One: Remove the Old Elytra Files

  1. Open the WARDOGS install directory and find the Elytra folder.
  2. Delete it completely.
  3. Steam → right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files — Steam re-downloads a clean copy.
  4. Run the Elytra setup program inside the game folder, then restart the PC.

Players who joined the playtest almost never escape this step; the old files and the retail anti-cheat refuse to coexist.

Fix Two: Remove Other Platforms' Anti-Cheats

If the error survives the cleanup, uninstall the usual suspects — 5E, Perfect World, Riot Vanguard and friends — and reboot. Their resident services collide with Elytra exactly the way they block startup in the anti-cheat guide.

If It Still Fails

L014 has many triggers, and in the rare stubborn case a clean Windows install is the honest last resort — try it only after both fixes above and the numbered-code steps in error 114 have failed. Report persistent cases on the official channels: it's an Early Access game and the team patches these codes regularly.
