WARDOGS How to Add Friends — Steam Is Your Friends List

Published 2026-09-15Updated 2026-09-193 min read

WARDOGS has no in-game friend system in Early Access: friends come from Steam, and joining their match is a right-click away.

No in-game friend menu — your Steam list does all the work.

The current Early Access build has no standalone in-game friends system: you cannot search an ID and add a WARDOGS friend inside the client. Friendships live on Steam, and the game reads them from there.

Step 1: Add Friends on Steam

Open the Steam client, go to your friends list, and use Add Friend. Enter your friend's Steam profile name or friend code, send the request, and wait for acceptance. That's the entire process — once someone is a Steam friend, WARDOGS picks them up automatically.

Step 2: Join or Group In-Match

  • With a Steam friend already in a server, right-click their name in your friends list and choose Join Game — the client drops you into the same server if there's space.
  • Inside a match, open the ESC menu and use Create Squad to form a temporary squad with people on your team and faction. Squads dissolve when the match ends; they are session tools, not saved relationships.
  • Squadmates share gold map markers and squad voice chat.

The full in-match squad flow — including lockable squads and invite codes — is covered in how to invite friends.
