WARDOGS Recon Leveling Guide — Marks, SKS and the Mosin

Published 2026-09-15Updated 2026-09-194 min read

Level the WARDOGS Recon track: binocular mark income, why the SKS beats the starter sniper, and when the Mosin Nagant enters your loadout.

The cheapest tool in the game is also the best XP printer.

Recon XP flows from two habits: kills with sniper and marksman rifles, and marks from your binoculars. The track rewards patience over twitch aim.

The Mark Economy

Marking an enemy pays $100 on the spot. When a teammate kills that marked target, you collect $800. That eight-to-one ratio is the whole philosophy of Recon: you are paid for information, not trigger time. Marking vehicles, FOBs and enemy buildables feeds the same economy — and marking XP counts toward the track even on matches where you never fire a shot.

Weapon Progression

  • Skip the starter sniper. The free bolt gun doesn't one-shot, and its slow follow-ups make misses expensive.
  • The SKS is the early king. This semi-auto marksman rifle kills at practically any range, feeds rounds directly into the chamber — no magazine to manage — and keeps you in the fight after the first shot. It is the best early unlock on the track.
  • The Mosin Nagant follows at Recon 10 for true long-range work. Pair it with a range finder and zero your rifle properly — our Mosin Nagant loadout guide covers the full setup.

The Leveling Loop

Buy binoculars every life ($75), take a high seat at the hotzone edge, and mark everything that moves. Fill dead time with SKS shots at mid-range. Marks generate Recon XP whether or not anyone pulls the trigger, so your level climbs even on quiet matches — and the cash from assist-kills funds the sniper purchase before you feel the grind.
